A Great Movie

There is something about disaster films. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what attracts moviegoers to these types of movies. Perhaps it is the sense of danger watching others in harms way knowing that it is just a movie and the things happening on screen are not happening to you. Whatever it is, disaster films are usually well received and generally turn a good profit. The best way to see this genre of films is to watch movies on demand on Texas direct tv satellite .

’2012′ is a movie that supposedly depicts the apocalypse we all are facing in the year 2012. The Mayan calendar predicts a doomsday event to occur on December 22, 2012 and even Nostradamus predicts something catastrophic in this time in his quatrains. Whether we are doomed or not, this kind of event makes for a great special effects movie.

John Cusack plays the hero trying desperately to save his family from the apocalypse. That is essentially the plot of the film. The story takes second place to the amazing special effects from the complete destruction of Southern California where I grew up (this scene unnerved me but it was amazingly well done) and the massive eruption of the Yellowstone volcano. Those two scenes in my estimation made the movie. The scene of the arks taking the survivors to safety was a bit overdone and not very believable.

The film ends with the remains of humanity sailing to a new future. I liked the movie but only for the special effects. The story was predictable and a bit dull and the movie length could have been trimmed.
